How Come There Is an Extra Tail - Azara's Night Monkey Becomes Mommy
The Azara's Night Monkey, an exchange between the Taipei Zoo and Germany’s Zoo Frankfurt in 2009, became a mommy on April 12, with the birth of one baby born at the Nocturnal Animal House. Zoo director Jason Yeh expressed that back in 2005, the Zoo Frankfurt had asked for the Taipei Zoo’s assistance, to help the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) with an ex-situ conservation and breeding program on fat-tailed dwarf lemurs, in exchange for a pair of Azara's night monkeys. The Taipei Zoo agreed and a bilateral conservation plus species breeding cooperation program thus begun.
